General Administration of Knowledge Resources

Establishment and Development: The administration was established upon the founding of the University of Hafr Al-Batin under the name Deanship of Library Affairs in 2014. It was directly affiliated with the University Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The name of the deanship was later changed to the General Administration of Knowledge Resources as part of the university’s new organizational structure in 2023.

For the libraries of the University of Hafr Al-Batin to be attractive libraries that serve their beneficiaries according to the latest technologies in modern knowledge resources.

Supporting the educational process and scientific research by providing advanced and modern technologies that facilitate access to library information resources for all university personnel.

  • Providing information and library services to facilitate research and retrieval through the publications, catalogs, bibliographies, and guides issued by the administration.
  • Enhancing knowledge and awareness of the services provided by the library, offering training on their use, and promoting maximum benefit from them.
  • Providing beneficiary services by responding to inquiries and fulfilling requests as quickly as possible.

The General Administration of Knowledge Resources seeks to achieve the strategic objectives derived from the strategic objectives of the University of Hafr Al-Batin, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. This is pursued through improving service quality, training administrative staff, and developing library services to meet the needs of beneficiaries both inside and outside the university. The administration also seeks to develop partnerships with community institutions and individuals, such as by holding training courses and implementing social activities. In addition, it works to develop the infrastructure, technical systems, and service facilities of both the central library and branch libraries by supporting learning resources, including buildings, halls, libraries, computer equipment, and other resources, as well as providing the necessary facilities and services for university personnel.

The administration also seeks to utilize appropriate training personnel, including technicians and experts in libraries and digitization. It further aims to develop the administrative and technical staff of the libraries and enhance their performance in order to support and assist the educational and training process. The university library is considered one of the modern libraries established during the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 2014, and it continues to contribute directly and effectively to acquiring and providing information resources and materials that serve students and researchers inside and outside the university across all academic disciplines.

In terms of knowledge holdings, by the end of 2025, the university libraries include more than 85,000 items, including books, journals, and theses in both printed and non-printed formats. These are acquired and developed through various methods, including purchase, donation, exchange, deposit, and others. They are organized and retrieved in the shortest possible time and provided to the community of beneficiaries across various disciplines through a range of traditional services, such as lending services, provision of references and journals, and photocopying, as well as modern services, including current awareness services, selective dissemination of information, and other computerized services. This is achieved through human competencies qualified academically, technically, and technologically in the field of library and information science. The administration is also keen to follow all scientific developments that serve information systems in order to develop its reference and research services, overcome the challenges it faces, and work to increase specialized libraries and equip them with the latest devices and systems that contribute to creating an appropriate digital environment in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

General Administration of Knowledge Resources Manager

The General Administration of Knowledge Resources at the University of Hafr Al-Batin represents a fundamental pillar in supporting the educational and research process, and an important contributor to building an integrated knowledge society, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program. Based on the University of Hafr Al-Batin’s orientation toward achieving Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020, and in response to the rapid developments in the transition toward knowledge societies and knowledge economies, as well as the knowledge explosion and the vast advancement of information technology and its broad impact on various fields of life, including education, economy, health, and social services, the General Administration of Knowledge Resources is committed to developing and updating the holdings of the central library and branch libraries. It also facilitates access to information resources in their various forms, ensuring fast and easy access to library collections in accordance with the latest international systems and standards.

The administration also works to improve the quality of the services provided and to activate the knowledge role of the library in a way that supports learning, research, innovation, and the service of university personnel. It further promotes a stimulating knowledge environment through quality initiatives and sustainable development programs.

From this perspective, the administration is committed to implementing a clearly defined operational plan aimed at achieving the desired objectives, improving institutional performance efficiency, and strengthening the knowledge role of the library in support of academic excellence and future aspirations.
