Academic Recruitment Unit

The Academic Recruitment Unit is one of the organizational units under the Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs. It is responsible for organizing and developing faculty recruitment processes to enhance academic planning efficiency and support the quality of the University's educational and research outcomes.

The Unit identifies the academic staffing needs of colleges and departments based on teaching workloads and approved study plans. It reviews requests for overload teaching assignments and adjunct faculty appointments and evaluates recruitment requests according to transparent and objective criteria that ensure fairness while addressing the University's specialized academic needs. The Unit also supports decisions related to faculty appointments, contract renewals, and contract terminations through data analysis, periodic reporting, and the submission of recommendations to the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, the Unit seeks to improve the operational efficiency of academic workforce allocation, minimize underutilized low-enrollment course sections, achieve balanced teaching workloads, and establish a comprehensive database of distinguished academic talent. These efforts contribute to enhancing educational quality and achieving the University's strategic objectives.

Unit Responsibilities

  • Monitor teaching workloads across the University's colleges.
  • Review requests for adjunct faculty from outside the University to address teaching requirements.
  • Evaluate requests for overload teaching assignments and submit appropriate recommendations.
  • Propose effective solutions to optimize the utilization of faculty members across the University's colleges, deanships, and administrative units to meet teaching needs.
  • Supervise the development of an electronic system for monitoring and managing teaching workloads across all colleges and academic units (Mutaba'ah System).
  • Review and recommend action on faculty recruitment requests submitted by colleges based on teaching workload analyses.
  • Examine assignments and matters referred to the Unit by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
