In 1423 AH, the first higher education institution in Al Nu'ayriyah Governorate was established as the College of Education for Women under the supervision of the General Administration of Girls' Education in the Eastern Province. The College admitted its first cohort of students during the 1423–1424 AH academic year.

In 1429 AH, the College became part of the Ministry of Higher Education pursuant to Higher Education Council Resolution No. (6/45/1428), after which it became a branch of King Faisal University and was renamed the College of Arts and Sciences for Women.

In 1431 AH, the College became one of the colleges of the University of Dammam following the issuance of a decision granting it institutional independence, similar to many higher education institutions across the Kingdom.

Subsequently, the College became part of the University of Hafr Al Batin, where its name was changed from the College of Arts and Sciences to the University College, and later to the University College of Al Nu'ayriyah.
